Philosophy and Approach
What in the world does acting have to do with success in business? As Shakespeare wrote, “All the world’s a stage…”, whether it’s a board room, a weekly sales meeting, a yearly shareholders’ meeting, a behind closed doors negotiation, or an impromptu press conference. What’s required to succeed in any of these arenas is: (1) CONFIDENCE, in one’s ability to communicate effectively under any circumstances, and (2) the ability to be FOCUSED and PRESENT at all times. Being present in every moment with those whom you are engaged is the key to effective communication, and to the accomplishment of one’s goals, and this is specifically what the craft and study of Acting teaches and provides.
There are many methods utilized for the training of actors, all of which are meant to provide the actor with skills and tools for the accomplishment of their craft. The bottom line is for the actor to experience Freedom in his or her work, which only comes from a confidence in their ability to handle themselves in any situation, under every sort of circumstance.
For over 30 years, PRICE HALL has been involved in the entertainment industry as an actor, writer, and director, and for 18 of those years, has taught the craft of Acting. His teaching and work is drawn from a number of differing methods and approaches, all of which he has synthesized in his teaching with one purpose in mind – to have the actor be FULLY ALIVE and FREE TO BE in every moment. FREE from a concern of achieving a Result, even while focused on a Goal. FREE from worrying about what others may be thinking about them. FREE from the concern of doing it Right. FREE to be fully Present and enjoy the experience and those involved in it with them. FREEDOM from Self-Consciousness. FREE from all of the conversations one has with oneself while attempting to have a conversation with someone else.
This kind of FREEDOM is what has actors come to Life and be believable, because they are fully ALIVE, PRESENT and LIVING IN THE MOMENT. These are the same qualities you will find in every successful business professional, whether they be the CEO, Marketing Rep, Account Rep, front-line Customer Service Rep, or Chairman of the Board. It is the QUALITY OF BEING PRESENT which opens the door for all successful, win-win interactions in business, and in Life. And it is this quality which most often seems in short supply in the world of business, in the world of acting, and in Life. The Key to shifting this condition is one thing – LISTENING.
